Cheerful Shambhala Day Wishes

SHAMBHALA DAY marks the beginning of the New Year, and represents one of the most important traditions of Shambhala Buddhism. Based on the traditional Tibetan New Year’s celebration of Losar, the day is calculated astrologically according to the Tibetan lunar calendar, and changes every year to coincide with the annual lunar cycles.

This year Shambhala Day is on Tuesday, February 5. All funds raised as part of the Year of the Earth Boar, Shambhala Day 2019 Campaign will support the Shambhala community and Center and Member Services, as coordinated by Shambhala Global Services, which provides all the critical infrastructure, support, and resources on which centers, groups, and members worldwide rely. You can click here to view a comprehensive overview of Shambhala Global Services. In addition to traditional Shambhala Day fundraising for the center of the mandala, we are also making a local membership increase request to all. We ask that if you are not a dues paying member, that you please become one, and if you are a dues-paying member that you please consider increasing the amount you donate each month by whatever amount feels comfortable to you. If youʻd like to make a one-time donation to Shambhala Global Services or make a recurring membership dues payment, please do so using our new PayPal donation button. Please be sure to add a comment regarding what your contribution should be earmarked for: Shambhala Global Services or Membership Dues. Together, we will enter the New Year of the Earth Boar and welcome its qualities of trustworthiness, simplicity, and honesty.

Lastly, please fill out our programming survey on or before February 8th at 5 pm HT. We emailed it to 157 people on our newsletter list, and have only received 5 responses thus far. Help us understand what we can do to support your practice. The results of the survey will be compiled and shared with the larger community anonymously.

Warmest Aloha,
